Do you know someone who inspired you since you were a child? And somehow that has led to crafting your present day beliefs, success and value systems? Was it your parents? Could it have been your teacher? Or was it someone you read about in the news recently and you begin to follow his work and draw inspiration? Could it be a mentor that takes the time and effort to coach you in shaping your business acumen and adding more wisdom to your daily living?

There can be so many instances where we can draw inspiration. Every individual or team has a story to tell. Very often, these stories hold insights to the human potential, beliefs, values, and many lessons that often go unnoticed. These stories if made available, could serve as an example to many others across boundaries that may share similar challenges or situations. They may be able to draw insights and connect to these people who have lived the extraordinary.

The INSFIRE Awards is about highlighting these grassroots inspiration. The intent behind it is to collate examples of these ordinary people who have lived the extraordinary. It will highlight their work and accomplishments, personal struggles, strategies they used in striving to be more. In becoming more, they are initiating transformation. These are people who have probably lived without realizing that their sense of being has inspired change, and perhaps evolution in the human spirit. INSFIRE is about honoring these people and organizations. It is about celebrating humanity. Here in Malaysia, we begin.

In collaboration with KomunitiKini news portal and Live & Inspire, we’re bringing to light the stories of these heroes at the grassroots. The list of awards are the first of its kind here in Malaysia, making known the lives of individuals and organizations who made their stand for humanity at large.

WHAT DOES INSFIRE REPRESENT?

It recognizes inspiration. In this instance, FIRE is used as a metaphoric representation of passion. It fuels their centre and purpose to a point that humanity stands as beneficiary of their becoming. Black colors the word “ins” symbolizing the unseen. The nominees and recipients to the list of awards simply hold an instinctive call that fuels that passion. This is usually in the unseen.

We, together with humanity at large are about to make their story known, honor and recognize these lives.

THE TYPES OF AWARDS

This category welcomes nominations who are trailblazers in their own right. These are INDIVIDUALS who have taken the role of creating and making things happen. They have set trends, built a value around it, after which that value serves humanity at large. They begun with nothing and manifested just about the extraordinary. In our quest to recognize these lives, we look at their life as a whole. They are trailblazers because they have created results with their lives that impact the world around them. Sustainability is key. These individuals are LEADERS in their own right.

These people make a stand for the green in the world. We call them guardians because they have come to awareness about the importance of the environment and its effect in sustaining humanity’s quality of life. Taking responsibility of the environment, is a common trait they possess. They live green. Who do you think, mother earth will call her guardian? Share with us their stories.

When the world abandons another life, these individuals come to rescue. Yes, they save real lives. These individuals take on the role and give animals voice. They make a stand for love. And yes, the love extends to every animal. The very nature of that, makes them a guardian. Be it an initiative they have started, a strategy in place to ensure every dog or cat is saved or one who goes around feeding the stray, we want to share their stories with the world.

This award focuses young individuals between age 12 – 24 who are making a difference within communities. Regardless if it is a business plan that’s working, a blogger that writes and inspires, a boy scout or girl guide project that is about creating unity, a cancer patient who battled and came out victorious, a group of youths that have taken the initiative to care and love orphaned and marginalized kids, we welcome the nominations.

This award recognizes individuals & teams contributing/have contributed to the development of sports. They could be sports veterans, who have set the standards with their achievements, people who have coached the finest in their field, associations that are creating environments conducive for talent development or current teams that are proving to be examples of the human potential in the sports arena. Malaysia has seen multiple talents to date. It is time we find more of them and duplicate the experiences and results. These rare ones, we call them the The Pulse of Sports.

This award recognizes individuals and resident associations (R.A.) for fostering a sense of place and help improve community resilience. Recognizing the efforts of these voluntary and independent unincorporated association serving the better interest of residents. While preserving, protecting and advancement of amenities. Also notable efforts being responsible keeping their ear to the ground and feeding through the views or concerns. Then further making an impact by monitoring and taking action on planning matters. Commending efforts working with other residents associations, gaining significant representation with councilorship and other bodies. Much hard work goes to sustain an R.A. If you know an R.A. and an R.A. representative that is commendable for their efforts, make it known!

This award recognizes the exemplary efforts of an individual among the members (Citizen Journalist Malaysia) for vigilantly contributing news report. These individuals must be accredited & qualified members of the Citizen Journalist Malaysia. CJ nominated will be evaluated based on contribution of good, responsible, ethical and unbiased reports happening in their surrounding which affects them and the community. Also notable involvement with their Resident Association & Council members as well. Evaluation will also be based on the written, photo & video journalism efficiently. If you think the CJ within your community is creating an impact, please do make this known. This award is brought to you by www.cj.my.

This award focuses on corporates and NGOs working on a cause to make a difference to humanity. It brings to light organizations that work diligently to create sustainability for humanity. It could be their work in itself or through CSR projects they carry out that is making the difference. Help us highlight their work, and we want to make known their contribution.

This is the PEOPLE’S CHOICE award. This is award is left to you to define your superhero. Regardless the cause they stood for, we want to hear from you about the hero you know. How did he or she save the day? It could be the individual who helped save the playground from being taken away in your neighborhood. It could be an individual who stopped a snatch thief or solve a robbery case in your area. These are individual who made a stand because it was the right thing to do. Share with us that story.

HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED?

THE MECHANISM

1. Log on to www.liveandinspire.com/insfire
2. Fill in the form provided.
3. TOP 10 for each award category will be shortlisted, after which a panel of judges will select the TOP 3 awards.
4. All top 3 will be commended with various rewards and benefits – to be announced.
5. The organizer reserves the rights to disqualify any nomination that cannot be verified to be true. All nominations will go through a verification process. Hence, it is important to provide accurate information.
6. Nominations will close on DECEMBER 30, 2010. Upon closing date, voting and interviews with the judging panel takes place.
7. Judging panel will hold captains of various industries to ensure recipients are commended fairly.
